Nurses Day 2011

Nurses Day on 12th May gave us an opportunity to say "THANK YOU" to Jessie May's hard working and dedicated team of Nurses and Nursery Nurses - find out more!

RCN Nurses Day LogoJessie May was delighted to support the RCN's "Nurses' Day" on 12th May 2011 as a way of saying a very BIG thank you to their wonderful team of dedicated and hard working nurses and nursery nurses who care for the children and young people on the Jessie May caseload. One of Jessie May's unique strengths is that all care provided in each family's own home is carried out by a Registered Nurse or Nursery Nurse.

Nurses Day is an annual event giving an opportunity for nurses worldwide to celebrate their profession and unite to take pride in their jobs and show the world the importance of their work. Few people can say they are untouched by the hard work, care and dedication of nurses at Jessie May, the UK and throughout the world.

The reason that Nurses Day is held on the 12th May each year is because this is the birth date of Florence Nightingale. She made many reforms to nursing and health care and drastically cut the death rate amongst soldiers in the Crimean War as a result of her hard work, dedication and training of fellow nurses.

Some of the comments received:

"We would love to say thank you to the nurses that come and look after our daughter. Not only does she have a fun morning playing with new toys and trying new things, but it means I get a break too. I don't always go off and do the most exciting things (food shop normally!) but it's just easier with one less child to move in and out of cars etc. Jessie May staff arrive with big smiles and have such an air of calm about them - I don't know how they do it! Please pass on our thanks to them all on their special day" - Parent

"Well done for hard work, expertly delivered" - Dr Gareth Roberts, Community Paediatrician

"Thank you for all your hard work and dedication in working for Jessie May - I am proud to work with such a knowledgeable and experienced team of nursing staff" - Liz Lewington, Care Team Manager
